Checking back in after days of absence. I can only cite an endless chain of interconnected circumstances as the cause (and then effect) of my days (weeks?) of « silence » here…
In the meantime, much ado, much afloat, much afoot.
The city has grown cold.
The markets are falling.
A new restaurant has opened on the corner of my street.
I saw a stunning exhibition of the paintings collected by the Stein family, Gertrude and her two brothers and sister-in-law, in Paris a century ago: Picasso, Matisse, Cézanne, and more.
One thing among many that stays: Gertrude, citing Matisse, notes that each thing in a portrait, in paint or words, is as important as another.
yet in every painting, piece of music is a hierarchy of things too.
But could we take one note away out of a partita from Bach?
