There’s something starting to gather force in America these days, the « Occupy Wall Street » protest movement.
On it’s Web site, Occupy Wall Street explains that it « is a leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants. »
And then from the Zen Peacemakers, I came across some very interesting thoughts on the movement, how it is still proclaiming a notion of separation, us vs. them. What about interconnection? Oneness? Unity?
Check it out in this article.
Including all – even the 1% – does not mean you have to agree with everything what is going on.
It means you have to deal with it. When needed with use of "the grandfatherly sword" – (hard) – connected with all – so compasionate
no own agenda.
It does not mean we can not react against things going on that are not right at all.
Even when we are interconnected – we can take our place and do whatever has to be done. Soft or hard. And only if we are realy liberated, we can.
We don’t have to be victims either. We don’t have to be agressors. We have to be free to do whatever is needed.
Compassion has nothing to do with soft talk.
I was wondering if you were about to write on this issue. It has been one of my issues for the past weeks, not to say years. Many times i feel quite miserable and suffer so much with all the suffering that is around, not knowing what to do, being so impotent to deal with many that I encounter during the day. I often blame the system, the government, the rich, the banks, the politicians for all the suffering. It leads me to nowhere. In Wall Street there was someone with a sign saying "i care about you" and that is what I strongly try to do everyday, hoping to include all. Even the 1%. Even my neighbor, that despite being late, he continues playing music loudly, and makes me irritated.
